The Hemaglutin (HA) Epitope tag is a valuable method for fast detection and purification of expressing target proteins. Furthermore, HA epitope tagging enables the localisation and quantification of expressed proteins in a wide range of organisms. Most notably HA tagging is used for the study of poorly characterised proteins by way of recombinant DNA techniques. The tag is transfected into the cells of interest and expressed by the cell permitting the detection and/or purification using a monoclonal antibody specific to the HA tag. The HA-tagged proteins are detected and purified using the same type of techniques that are used with standard protein-specific antibodies.
