Conalbumin

Conalbumin (Ovotransferrin) is a monomeric glycoprotein, consisting of 686 amino acids, encoded by the transferrin gene in the oviducts of poultry and is a major component of egg white. It features a unique glycosylation pattern distinct from serum transferrin, making it a potent iron-binding agent that plays a crucial role in the transport of iron to developing embryos. Additionally, Conalbumin possesses various biological activities including antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anticarcinogenic, antioxidative, antihypertensive, and immunomodulatory properties.
