Description:
Pemafibrate is a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha agonist (PPARalpha EC50 = 1nM for transcriptional activity). Pemafibrate is selective for PPARalpha over PPARdelta and PPARgamma (EC50 = 2300 and 1000nM, respectively). PPARalpha is a transcription factor that is essential for regulation of lipid homeostasis and glucose metabolism and has been implicated in inflammation. Pemafibrate was associated with the inhibition of inflammatory responses without affecting cell proliferation or angiogenesis, and subsequently may induce an anti-atherosclerotic effect.
